Comparison
Call Coach IQ vs. Your UC Bundle's AI Summaries
Microsoft Teams, Zoom, RingCentral, Dialpad — they all ship AI call summaries now, and most of them are included in a plan you already pay for. That is genuinely good, and it changes what a QA platform should be sold for. Here is the honest version of the comparison.
We think bundled AI summaries are a good thing — including for us
Transcription and summarization are on their way to being a free feature of the phone system. We assume that outright: transcription is included on every Call Coach IQ plan rather than sold as a headline feature, because charging a premium for something your UC vendor is about to give away is not a business. What a summary cannot do is tell you whether the call met your standard, or prove that the coaching that followed was delivered, read, and acted on. That is the layer this page is about.
What your UC bundle already does well
Transcribe the call
Speech-to-text on every recorded call or meeting, usually searchable, usually retained for as long as your recording policy allows. This is the part that used to be the expensive half of a QA platform. It is now close to free, and it will keep getting cheaper.
Summarize what was said
A short recap, often with action items and a topic list. Good enough that a manager reading it will know roughly what happened without listening to the recording. For a one-off "what did we agree?" question, this is genuinely the fastest tool available.
Surface a handful of signals
Talk-time ratios, sentiment indicators, keyword mentions. Useful directionally. Presented as a per-call or per-meeting readout rather than as a longitudinal record of an individual agent measured against a defined standard.

What a summary cannot do
Score against your rubric
A summary tells you what happened. A score tells you whether it met your standard. Those are different artifacts. Call Coach IQ applies your rubric — sales, retention, support, compliance, or one you write yourself — to every call, using the same criteria and the same score bands each time. The overall score is never left to the model's arithmetic: it is recomputed in code from the per-criterion scores, as an even split by default or using the percentage weights you configure. Without a rubric there is no inter-rater consistency to protect, because there is no rating.
See AI Performance Review →Prove the coaching landed
This is the gap that costs money. A summary can be emailed to an agent. It cannot tell you whether the agent read it, whether they agreed with it, whether they disputed it, or whether the behaviour changed on the next call. Call Coach IQ keeps a coaching item open until the agent signs off, routes disagreements through a dispute and resolution workflow, and shows managers who has acknowledged what.
See Coaching Hub →Attribute a transferred call
One recording with an IVR handoff and two warm transfers is three performance records, not one. Bundled summarization treats the call as a single artifact. Call Coach IQ separates the speakers and attributes the score and coaching to the agent who handled each segment — so a strong agent is not dragged down by the segment they inherited.
See Multi Agent Detection →When the bundle is genuinely enough
There are real situations where adding a QA platform is the wrong move. If any of these describe you, stay where you are — a demo would waste your time and ours.
You have no formal QA program and are not building one
If nobody is scoring calls today, nobody has a rubric, and no manager has coaching in their job description, a QA platform is not the missing piece — the program is. Bundled summaries will save your managers real time on call review, and that is a genuine win. Come back when you need the score to mean something to more than one person.
Fewer than about ten agents, one manager, one room
At that size the manager already knows how each agent is doing. The value of a structured coaching record is mostly that it survives manager turnover and scales past what one person can hold in their head. If neither of those is a live concern, the bundle is doing the job.
Your calls are internal or low-stakes
Internal standups, vendor check-ins, and low-volume scheduling calls do not need to be scored. Summaries are the right tool for calls where the outcome matters and the delivery does not.
Most teams end up running both — and that is the right answer
Call Coach IQ is not a replacement for the AI notes in your phone system, and it does not ask you to turn them off. Your UC platform is where the call happens and where the fast, in-the-moment recap lives; leave it there. Call Coach IQ connects to the same recording source and runs the layer your UC vendor has no reason to build: your rubric, your score, your coaching queue, your acknowledgment trail, your dispute record, and the longitudinal view of whether a given agent is actually improving. The reason the UC vendors will not build that layer is not technical — it is that quality management is an operations discipline with per-customer rubrics and workflows, and they sell a horizontal platform to everyone. They will keep making the transcript better and cheaper. That is good for you, and it is good for us.

Frequently Asked Questions
Our phone system already gives us AI call summaries for free. Why would we pay for Call Coach IQ?
Because a summary and a QA program are different things. Bundled AI notes tell you what was said on a call. Call Coach IQ tells you whether the call met the standard you set, generates coaching tied to the exact moments that moved the score, keeps that coaching open until the agent signs off, gives the agent a structured way to dispute a score they disagree with, and builds a performance record you can point to in a review or a termination. If your only need is "what happened on that call," the bundle covers it and you should not pay us. If you need to answer "is this agent getting better, and can you prove the coaching happened," a summary cannot produce that answer at any price.
Will bundled AI summaries eventually replace QA software entirely?
They will almost certainly replace the transcription and summarization half of QA software — we assume that outright and price accordingly, which is why transcription is included at every tier rather than sold as a headline feature. What they are unlikely to replace is the workflow: per-customer scoring rubrics, coaching acknowledgment, dispute resolution, per-agent attribution across transfers, and the audit trail those produce. Those are operations-specific and vary by company, which is exactly the kind of thing a horizontal platform vendor has little incentive to build.
Can Call Coach IQ use the recordings we already have in Teams, Zoom, RingCentral, or Dialpad?
Yes. Call Coach IQ connects to your existing call recording source rather than replacing your telephony. Your phone system stays exactly as it is, your users keep the interface they already know, and recordings flow into Call Coach IQ automatically once a call ends. There is no rip-and-replace, no new handsets, and no change to how calls are placed or received. Setup takes one business day.
Do we lose the AI notes we already get if we add Call Coach IQ?
No. Nothing about your UC platform changes. Your existing AI notes keep working exactly as they do today, and your team can keep using them for the fast in-the-moment recap. Call Coach IQ runs alongside as the quality and coaching layer. Many teams use the bundled summary to decide whether to listen to a call, and Call Coach IQ to decide what to coach on.
How do we know this comparison is still accurate?
You should verify it against your current plan before making a decision — UC vendors ship changes to their AI features frequently, and a capability that was an add-on last quarter may be included this quarter. The structural argument on this page does not depend on the details: as bundled transcription and summarization improve, the case for paying a QA vendor for those specific capabilities weakens, and the case for buying scoring, coaching workflow, and the acknowledgment record gets stronger. If you find something on this page that is out of date, contact us and we will correct it.
